What I'm Reading
For the first time in a while, I joined a book club – and one that is not typical for me. I have to thank my friend Katherine Loyacano for the invite. The club is called Chills, Thrills, & Kills Book Club. Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None was the June read. I read that this is the story that made Agatha Christie a best-selling novelist. Ten strangers are invited to an isolated island where their host, U.N. Owen, is not present. One of the party suddenly dies which brings on much tension as the survivors realize that the killer is among them. The book is an enjoyable read with many twists and turns.
Ilana Muhlstein, M.S., R.D.N.’s 2B Mindset nutrition program has made an impact in my life. Her program helped me to get my nutrition under control, lose weight, and be a role model to others. I ave seen first hand what this program can do for others, as many of my clients have had tremendous success with the 2B Mindset. You Can Drop It! further explains Ilana’s program with beautiful, easy to understand explanations and pictures.
I ran my first book club in my private group for my team with Mel Robbins’ The High 5 Habit. The entire experience was wonderful for me. We divided the book up into sections and discussed on Zoom. I recommend this personal development book. It spoke to me when I was reading, and I also listened to her read it on Audible. Her advice on setting a morning routine helped me.
Mary Pope Osborne’s Magic Tree House series is a favorite of mine to read to my students in the library. Currently, we are reading A Good Night For Ghosts. Set in New Orleans, LA, characters Jack and Annie are on a mission to find Louis Armstrong, the King of Jazz. Since our Mardi Gras holidays are close by, the students are excited to hear about beignets, gumbo, and other delicious food from the Big City. I am reading the entire series this year! I will keep you posted.
My daughter-in-law recommended Jennifer Allwood’s book Fear Is Not The Boss of You. I enjoyed her writing style; it is as if she is talking to you as you read her story. She has some good advice for those looking to follow their dreams.
I have been trying to grow my Beachbody business. In one of my coaching groups, Kindra Hall’s book, Stories That Stick, was recommended. I enjoyed the way she hooked me with her story from the very beginning.
100 Days to Brave by Annie F. Downs is our team read. I began reading this devotional book when I began BOD’s Morning Meltdown 100 exercise program. I recommend you read Downs’s book to reaffirm your courage and strength.
I recently took the Ultimate Portion Fix training and earned my certification. Autum Calabrese and her brother Bobby have a Fixate cooking show on Beachbody On Demand. Additionally, they have created Fixate and Fixate 2 cookbooks which have easy, healthy recipes that follow the portion control program.
A Zero Waste Life In Thirty Days is written by Anita Vandyke, and it is a simple guide with suggestions on how you can eliminate your plastic use. I think this is a good read for beginners who are ready to make a change.
My friend Katherine recommended Ian K. Smith’s book The Clean 20: 20 Foods, 20 Days, Total Transformation! to me. Since I enjoy reading books on nutrition, I enjoyed this easy read which also includes some recipes and exercises.
Beachbody Super Trainer Autumn Calabrese is world-renowed for her color-coded portion control container system. I am certified in her Ultimate Portion Fix nutrition program using the containers. I have completed several of her workout programs on Beachbodyondemand, and I was so excited when Lose WEight Lke Crazy arrived in the mail this week! It is easy to read, and if you follow this 30 day plan, you will lose weight.
